From last Copenhagen Fashionweek - it was raining a lot

Copenhagen fashionweek is coming up in a couple of weeks, and hopefully the weather will be better than it was last time. I don't really know what I'm going to do this time, but it's always fun to see how the city changes during this week, since a lot of fashionable people are visiting Copenhagen to see the shows. I like it, there's so many events and although it's february, it brings a lot of life to the city. Are you guys going to any shows or events this time? Last month Yves Rocher send me some party stuff, to celebrate the holiday and the upcoming new year. I was lucky enough to try out the products on the picture; three different shades of glitter eyeshades, one eyeliner and one makeup brush. I loved the eyeshadows - the shades were great, and it's easy to control if you want a really glittery look or just something more simple. I also liked the fact that the powder turned into a more creamy consistency on the skin, which made it so easy to apply and also stick longer. I wasn't to pleased with the eyeliner; not that it wasn't good, it actually worked perfectly fine, but I'm not sure what to do when I've used the upper end of it, and, because of the triangular shape, I suddenly have some kind of thick lump of eyeliner to work with. It didn't seem like they put that consideration into the design process. The brush was fine though, and as said, so was the eyeshadows, so all in all I was very pleased with the products, and I would definitely consider buying the shadows or giving them as a gift.

Last months products from Yves Rocher were part of a spa series containing a bodylotion, -scrub and -oil. I've finally tried all of the products, and I have to say that I love them! My favourite product was the oil, or showergel as some might call it; it smells really nice and foams easily on your skin, and I like the fact that the smell sticks just a bit to your body, even after showering. That's my favourite way of wearing perfume, if you can call it that. The bodyscrub was nice as well, and like the oil, it had a warm and oriental smell, which I really loved. My skin felt smooth and fresh after using it, and it wasn't to hard on the skin. I didn't like the bodylotion as much as the two other products, mostly because it smelt different, and a bit more of orange flowers, which I felt was to "perfumy" for me. Despite that, it has a really nice consistency and it makes the skin smooth without being to thick or greasy.

I went by the pr agency Bonvita a week or so ago to have a look at their SS12 collections. I hadn't really heard of Bonvita before, but I like their brands, so I was really looking forward. I definitely wasn't disappointed either - not only did they offer christmas cookies and goodiebags, but they also had a whole lot of really nice shoes. It was nice to see a pr agency with different brands, and not just the ones you see on every other fashion blog, and I especially loved the boots from Wolverine on the upper picture. All in all a very nice visit, and I hope to see more of Bonvita in the future!

I've been keeping this diary for a while now, and I love it's simple and functional concept. Keel says: "Keel's Simple Diary offers structure for those who don't have time to wonder, making it easy to record life's moments. It gives the pleasure of a quick response and a sense of that no matter what is wrong, more is right" The idea of it is (as you can see on the picture) to have you write down a few lines about your day and then answer some simple, funny and often philosophical questions on each page. It makes me think about things I wouldn't normally have wondered about, and also always try to find the positive events of my day, and I really like that. I love christmas, and one of my favourite things is finding presents for my friends and family. Remember this post? I asked you guys for help for a new name, but I never really got to change it. The name "Palette" got the most votes, but I have some other ideas for that name, so that's why I didn't change it. I've used some time thinking about it since then, and I've decided to give it a try again, so these are the new names I'm considering:

Golden box (or maybe Golden chest) - a name I really like, since it reminds me of a treasure chest or maybe a jewellery box, and I do write a lot about jewellery. At the same time, I'd really like my blog to be somewhat of a treasurechest - to not really have a theme, but just be filled with pretty things.
MAB - my initials again.
Celestial Sphere- Not that my blog has anything to do with it, but it's a beautiful concept and I'm quite fascinated by these kind of things. Read about it here in danish or here in english.

You might have seen that a lot of bloggers have been picked out to test some of Yves Rocher's products, and I am one of the test persons as well. This month I got to test five of their products - two different kinds of moisturizing lipsticks, two nail polishes and one special polish meant to make the other ones dry faster. I get the products for free, so this is one of those "sponsored posts", but I should let you know that I'm not suppossed to write anything other than my honest opinion, so if I don't like the products I'm testing, I'll definitely let you know.
Well, back to the testing! This weekend I wore the lipsticks a couple of times - I don't feel that they do so much more moisturizing than lipsticks normally do, but they last quite long and the colours are good. If I must say something "bad", I'm not a big fan of their smell, which is kind of a usual makeup smell - I like the more neutral ones better. But all in all a nice product and not too expensive!
I liked the colours of the nail polishes - one classic red and one in a dark purple, which is the one I used the most. Easy to apply, and you don't need too many layers before it looks good. I would probably buy the purple one again, since I really like the colour and the quality was good - and again, they're definitely affordable!
I was the most excited about the last polish, meant to make normal nail polish dry faster. I normally never wear nail polish, 'cause I always manage to touch something and ruin the nails before they've dried, so this would have been a brilliant product for me, but unfortunately, it failed to impress me. My nails did dry a bit faster, but after a while, dry, bright spots started appearing on my nails, kind of looking like the polish had almost dried it too much, and the spots were so dry, that they had almost lost all colour. It was very weird, and I hope that I might have just gotten a ruined product, but if not, I would definitely not reccomend it.

As I wrote two days ago, I went to Venice for the Biennale. It's a contemporary art exhibition that takes place every second year. The concept is to gather a representation of art from most countries around the world - each country has a building in which to show their art. Most of the exhibition takes place in a garden called Giardini, filled with 30 small buildings, all different in architecture, all representing different countries. The other part of the exhibition takes place in Arsenale, which consists of about five or six big buildings, earlier used as shipyards, but now used for the artists who's countries don't have a building in the Giardini yet. As you can probably gather from this, there's a lot of art, but that's what's nice about it, you are almost always sure to stumble upon something that you really like. The pictures are only a few of what I found interesting, but I just wanted to show you a sample of what you can see. I would definitely recommend the Biennale to everybody who's interested in art, but I also think it would be a nice experience for those who often feel that art can be a bit boring, since there's so many different things to see. As said, I went to the event "Den gyldne pelsnål" this thursday. It's hosted by Copenhagen Fur every year, and is a competition for young designers to design something with fur in the three categories "clothes", "accessories" and "homewear". Hella Joof was the host, and was funny as always, and after the winners had been pointed out, Jokeren and Pato gave a mini koncert. All in all a great event, with free sushi and delicious chocolates, great goodiebags, and interesting designs. I'm not against the use of fur, although I would rather that people only used fake fur, since killing for clothes seems kind of crazy to me. I would never, ever buy a fur myself, and I only think it's kind of okay to use if the animals have been treated right. Despite that, the designs were beautiful, and I tried to look at it purely from an aesthetic point of view. . How do you guys feel about fur?

It's been a few days since I came back from Venice, but I've been quite busy since that, so I haven't really had the energy for posting - I had a lovely trip though, saw a lot of art, enjoyed the sun (28°!), went to food markets and walked way too much up and down bridges. Here's some pictures from the market - Although the fish smells quite a lot, I love going there, everything's so beautiful and fresh and people are so nice. My going to Venice wasn't because of the markets though, but because of the Biennale, which is an art exhibition that takes place every second year. I've been to it three times now, and I love it, so expect a post about it soon!

I ordered these two stones from etsy a month ago, and this weekend I finally had time to make bracelets out of them. I think they turned out great - do you like them? The stone on the bottom picture is a moonstone, which means that it has this kind of blue shade, that changes when you move. I like it, it's almost magical.

... Baked more cupcakes! Sorry for posting so much about cupcakes, but I've been making them every weekend these last weeks. Baked these with my good friend Camilla, and I think we ended up having made 34 cupcakes - you can never get too much! These were with cranberry and white chocolate, topped with lemon frosting - the picture is from before we put the frosting on though.

Ok, I obviously suck at doing these "this week" posts at the right time (preferably at the end of the week, and not the beginning of a new one), but I'll try doing it better from now on, I've just been extremely busy!

CUPCAKES

This weekend I tried making cupcakes for the first time, and luckily they turned out really good! I made them with lemon frosting, and it was quite easy, so here's the recipe:
80 gram of unsalted butter
250 gram of powder sugar
the juice of one lemon

Whip the ingredients together, and add more powdered sugar, if the texture doesn't feel right. Spread the frosting on the cupcakes, and put them in the fridge for half an hour - Then you've got yourself some awesome cupcakes!

Wow. The Tromborg event I went to was really nice. We were invited to see their new premises, which were really beautiful - huge rooms, some with mint green coloured walls, decorated with gold, and others simple and white with gigantic feather lamps. I'm so sad, that I forgot to take pictures. We got this amazing goodiebag as well, and I've already tried most of the products. I can really recommend the scrub and bodylotion - love the smell of lemon and ginger!

I love, love, love this Mulberry dress. I've been looking at it each time I've been to the Mulberry shop to borrow something for Costume. Unfortunately, I can't pretend that I'm actually able to afford it - so I tried finding an alternative, and I ended up with this one from Asos. Not only is it an alternative, it's almost the exact same dress, and contrary to the Mulberry one (which is 5116 dkk) this is only 480 dkk. I still like the Mulberry one better though - I know they have their sale after christmas, so maybe I should just start saving. Which of these dresses do you like the most?

... Been to Dalle Valle with my friend Pil. Their food and drinks are 50 % cheaper every saturday to tuesday between 17pm and 23pm. I got a huge vegetarian sandwich (the one on the picture) and the best frozen lemonade I have ever tasted for only 60 dkk!

... Walked down Nyhavn and enjoyed the last summer sun. I like living where I do, the smell of water and the sound of people makes me happy.

... Been eating treats at work, among others this wonderful "chocolate covered marshmallow treat", as it's apparently called in english. This one from Summerbird was filled with raspberries, and I've never tasted as good a chocolate covered marshmallow treat as this. Did you btw know, that Denmark was the first ones to ever produce such a thing?

This week's post is a bit late, simply because I've been busy. I've been to a fleamarket trying to get rid of some of my old clothes, to a Tromborg event, a Graae and Hovind event, out with some of my friends etc., and the only thing I ended up taking pictures of, was the above. But I promise to tell you more about the Tromborg event later - it was really nice!

I like Acne, but probably not as much as a big lot of the danish fashion bloggers do. I like what they do, but I don't find it that amazing, and at most times it's just to expensive for me. I also don't like to be able to see where a garment's from at instant, and that's what I think often happens when wearing labels like that - people look at you, and notice the label, instead of just judging whether it's a beautiful piece of garment or not. Having said that, I do like sale, and especially if it's on something in good quality and simple, timeless design, which Acne are good at. That's why I stopped by their sample sale the other day, where I found these two items. I have been looking for a shirt without sleeves and I've also been wanting a better wallet for quite a while, so finding these two items made me happy. Despite for the Acne logo on the wallet, I think both items are both simple and timeless, and you don't instantly think Acne when seeing them, so my mission was accomplished! Do you like my buys?

A DAY

8:57 - I start out the day by grabbing me a cup of tea or cocoa and then I check my email. I've gotten a lot of answers from Milan fashion week, but I will have to answer them later, since I have to get started on todays photosession in 10 minutes.

11:15 - Lunch starts around 12, but I still have a lot of photos to finish. My work is to make sure the clothes look good, and that everything is put the way it should be. We have two photographers who are always nice to work with, so this is one of the tasks that I really like doing, although it can get a bit monotonous.

15:30 - I've had my lunch and finished the photosession a little while ago. After that I've been packing a lot of the clothes in our clothing room - some are to be sent, and some are to be delivered personally. We often loan clothes directly from the stores, but we always return it after maximum two days, so today I have to return some of the clothes that I've photographed. As you can see, I have a lot to return, but sometimes I have even more, so today is an easy one. When I go pick up or return clothes, people always stare at me like crazy. Can't blame them though - it must look like I've just gone on a crazy shopping spree, but it can get kind of annoying with all of those angry stares. It's fun to see what's new in all the stores and get updated on trends so often though, so I still like it a lot. It takes quite a while delivering all of this, so around 16:45, when I'm finally finished, I get the day off.

I've gotten a lot of mails and comments about what it's like to work for Costume, so I thought, why not give you a tiny view of one of my days during the week. So here it is! Ofcourse I also do other things then the ones described above, but this would probably be quite a typical day for me. I've been there for a month now, and I'm still very happy about it, so I would definitely recommend it! If you have any other questions, just write a comment!

The first header for the blog

1. Why did you start blogging? I just wanted a place to share my thoughts and stuff. I really liked the fashion blogs that were popping up everywhere, so I thought, why not do it myself. I also felt like it might be a good way to get better at writing, taking photographs and just making things visually attracting.

2. Which blogs do you follow? I follow a lot of blogs, but my favourites right now are; 1. Columbine Smille, 2. Emsedge, 3. The Wiktor Diet, 4. I'm not ambrosia, 5. Julia and 6. Luxirare.

3. Favourite colours? I love colours and almost all colours can be beautiful for different things. One of my favourite colours right now is burgundy.

4. Favourite movies? The Fall, Everything is Illuminated, Night on Earth, Pan's Labyrinth - and lots, lots more, I just don't remember them right now.

5. Which countries would you like to visit and why? I'd like to see the whole world, but Thailand is definitely on top of my list right now. I'd love to see the nature there, it seems like it's so filled with diversity.

The other day Caja from Caja Says nominated me for a "blog award" - I normally don't do these things too often, but since I'm really into making collages right now, I thought it might be kind of fun! So here you go (the rules were in danish, but I translated them, since I write in english);

Emilie from Delancefashion took this picture of Katharina and I during the fashion week, but I hadn't seen it until now! I was actually kind of sad to not have a decent picture of this outfit, so it was a nice surprise to stumble over this. The picture was taken at an event for Elisabeth Gierus, which I will tell you more about another day. I need to show you a better picture of the top I'm wearing sometime, it's really nice and one of my favourite pieces in my closet.

Been to an event for Henrik Vibskovs new perfume. I liked Type C (Copenhagen) the most.

Fallen in love with Louis Vuittons window display. Eggs hatching and bags with bird feet! I love it.

Ordered tickets (or actually, my mom did) for Venice! Looking forward to going back there!.

New thing here. I've been so busy after I started working for Costume, so I thought it would be nice if I could post something to summarize what I've been doing every week in one single post. Ofcourse I'm still going to post the other days, but I just like the idea of these small collages, and I take so many pictures during the week, that I thought it would be funny. Do you guys like these kind of posts? I'm going to give it a shot, and then we'll se if it works out :)
